In this section you should write about your main character(s). Go beyond their physical description- but consider "what makes him/her tick"? Is he/she likeable? Etc.
The book I am reading is called "Impulse" by Ellen Hopkins - a well renowned author for other books that appeal to teens such as "Crank," "Glass," and "Burned."
In "Impulse" there isn't one main character. Rather, there are a few. Their names: Tony, Vanessa, and Conner. The book is set up in such a way that every other chapter tells the story from another character's point of view, which can kind of be confusing at times.
All of these characters are united in a psychiatric hospital named "Aspen Springs." (The name sounds happy, but what goes on inside it is far from it.)
Each of the characters' life circumstances and coping strategies are different, but every single one of them share the feeling of wanting to die and have attempted sacrificing their lives to rid their current everlasting pain. These ultimate acts unfortunately led them to Aspen Springs. . .. . Tony - believes he is homosexual and copes with his apparent childhood pains(which are not yet defined)by popping pills . Vanessa - is perceived as an attractive young lady. However, what lies beneath isn't so much. She suffers from Manic-depression and tries to slow down her racing thoughts by cutting herself . Conner - is ashamed of having sexual relations with one of his teachers and tries to cock a gun to his head to end it all . .. . Each of the characters find a comfort in talking to the counselors at Aspen Springs and end up, as painful as it can be, opening up to them about their troubles. . However, I question if they are just playing that game to get out of the place or if they think they really need help and that is a step towards getting the help they need... Some of them have questioned: Should we actually put an effort in towards getting out of here (going up from Level 0 in which you have acquired no freedom what so ever - AKA 'ISOLATION' to Level 5 which is when you get released)or should we just wait it out until we turn 18 (which is soon for most of them)and sign ourselves out which is initially the easier route to go? . .. . MY NUGGETS OF WISDOM Sometimes you have to hurt so hard and struggle so much before you can get better...And I hypothesize that this will sort of be the scenario - they'll want to give up during the process so much, but they'll hold on.

The main character is Robert. Robert is a 12 yr. old farmer. Right now he helped a cow give birth to a calf. After he helped the cow he went to Mr. Tanner who is the owner of the cow. Mr tanner gave Robert a baby pig because he helped the cow out because she was in pain from giving birth.

His father ran away when tony was just a baby and his mother (skank) doesnt exactly care for tony as she should. He was left to the streets when his dad decided to put him in the center.
Venessa - An attractive girl who was sent in by her grandma once her little brother walked in on her in the bathroom with her arm cut to the bone. Her father who is a soldier isnt around much and her mother is bipolar. To stay below or above the feeling of gray she cuts with anything she can.
The main character ,Guy, is a 8 year old boy who is a only child living on a dairy farm in north-western Minnesota. His farm is located on a indian resevation and he meets a indian boy named Tom LittleWolf, who becomes his friend.
Hey yo!!! This is 'Dirty' Harry and I'm reading, "Sunrise Over Fallujah" by Walter Dean Myers. My main character is Robin Perry, nephew of Richard Perry from "Fallen Angels", who for the time being seems to be very inexperienced at War, being that he was just deported to Kuwait for a peace offering team. Robin a.k.a "Birdy" is 18 years old and seems to care quite a bit whether innocent or true Taliban are killed. As his very graphic and gruesome journey continues he goes into Iraq and has to save a team of his fellow American soldiers. I think this also shows that not only Perry is a caring character in this book, but he also knows his responsibilities as a brave soldier.
In this book there are a lot of characters but i will only introduce one.
Travis Wayne: A nineteen year old boy, who just came home from hawaii, is getting back into his old routine of drinking, drugging, having sex, and partying it up. After awhile of being home he starts to realize that some thing in his life is wrong/missing. Although he tries hard to make things as they were he tends to run into obsticals that prevent him from doing so...........
My book "Naild" By Patrick Jones is about a by named Bret who takes his life as it comes, and in most cases the hard way. He is constantly getting in trouble in school and especially his English teacher and Principal. Not only is he having hard times in school, at home he is as well. Going through a family divorce, his dad is less aware of what he does than his mom. The way Bret changes himself makes his dad care less about him, more like hating him. Bret goes to his mom for everything besides his relationship things. Bret is going through a teenagers lifestyle. Experimenting with sexual behaviors, changes with his body, fitting in at school, making friends, and getting along with his parents.
There are a few main characters in my book. The 3 main characters are Justin, Emma, and Betina.
Emma is a new student in town and was invited to a party at Justins. Betina is the girl that Emma met and became friends with. At the party something goes wrong and the town and students at the party are going crazy and looking to kill the 3 main characters if they dont give them what they are looking for. Throughout the book the Justin, Emma, and Betina are running from a group of students who are chasing them and run into quite a few problems and never give up.
The first main character would be Bella and the book is the next one from Twilight and it starts off kinda sad because Bella is in the woods and Edward told her that he doesnt love her or want to be with her anymore. Bella takes it really hard and is really depressed and doesnt know wat to do with herself for the longest time. Than she starts hanging out with Jacob black again and than she becomes really close with him.
I think the characters in my book best relate to the characters in Punky_300's book, "Exit Here." The characters in my book are suffering from past traumatic situations that influence their decisions and make them want to harm themselves. And as hard as they try to change and figure out themselves - dig up the past - they keep falling back into that hole for a while.
Another one of my main characters would be Jacob Black. He lives on a reservations in La Push with his dad Billy. Bella and Jacob become best friends once edward leaves her. Bella finds out that Jake is a werewolf and that he really hates edward and his blood sucking family. So when edward comes back jake is not really happy about it and tells bella he cant be friends with her anymore
As far as characters go my book starts out like "the things they carried". It starts out with alot of characters. Srtyke is the leader of his army. He is a short tempered leader. Under his comand are the Wolverines, this is the name of his special breed of solders. His strategist expert is Coilla, she is the newest solder in his comand. The custodian of the Wolverine banner is Alfray. And finaly the sergeants Heskeer and Jup. Jup is a trater to his race for he is a dwarf, but he has alied him self with orcs. All of the characters so far are carear solders and love nothing but a good fight, death, and plunder.
My first big character is Kaite she works in a New York publishing house. She loves to read her house is filled with books abon books she needed to put in extra spaces to fit them all. Her house is rather old fashion she has a old relaxed style. She is very sweet and kind she loves what she does and is willing to help anyone. Mt second one is Matt he is a handy man that writes poems on the side. He seems to be a loving man that would do anything for the people he loves. However the ladies he loves did not know he was running around on them with an other gilr. The last person is Suzanna she is a wonderful loving Dr. She lived in a big city until she had a heart attack at a very young age. After that she moved away to live in the country so she could relax and start a new life. She is very sweet and would do anything to help anyone out.
My character is young just out of Harvard. He is in shape and is very likeable. He has 3 job offers from wall street. He and his wife just got married shes a elementry school teacher.
Chris si a young man, even though he cant stand the sun hes not completly white either. He has many friends but they all seem to be disapearing or dieing. He has a loyal dog that he cares for a great deal. Over all Chris seems like a kind and caring person who loves the night life.

Kate: She frist decides that she wants to play the guitar. That is when she realizes that she would need some new shoes because her whole life she had worn gym shoes, running shoes, soccer cleats, hiking botts, and red Chuck Taylor high-tops. so I would say that she is kind of more on the relaxed side of things. she kind of talks about how there are girls guitars and boys. Kate would also hang out with her friends in cheerleading for example the cheerleaders had decided that they would all wear red on the frist day of school and also they would also all be in the same lunch so it would work perfectly. she also had written her own song about dallas- an imaginary person. Also you will learn that she goes to a creative writting class and meet a boy there...

In my book there are two main charaters the first charater is "BLACK" he is a bad boy he does some very bad stuff such as he took a gun from his grandpa and jumps people with it and steals there money and whatever they have. My other charater is "WHITE" this is blacks sidekick these two are pretty much like brothers white does the same as black but instead of the gun he is the look out. throughout my book as the two were jumping some old lady they both get caught by the cops.....
there are a few main characters and a couple small ones. the first main character is Mitch Rapp who is the CIA's most respected and honored operative. Mitch Rapp is feared by almost every terrosist and is well trained in every field. working with the CIA since he was twenty he has made a very long career. the next character is his boss and director of CIA Irene Kennedy who is very smart,quite and shows little emotion but is always calculating. the third main character is President Robert Hayes who always seeks the help of Kennedy and Rapp. Hayes is a great leader and is very respected for making the right decisions and leading his country.
Shanes book relates to mine, Impulse in that there are three main characters and they all are good friends and work together to get through obstacles and rough times...
my character is kind of like parabellum because their are only a few many character and a few small ones. They are a little different because mine are not in like the CIA's and what not. Also i could say my book is like Shane's book because my main characters are also very good friends. And they have over come alot of rough time together.
In my book, i have 5 main characters. The most important of those characters is Willow O'Keefe, she is a young girl suffering with O.I. Willows life is anything but normal for a young girl. She constantly has her mother hanging over her, trying to protect her from any dangers. She is left out of many activitys because they are "too high risk" for her to participate. With having the spare time on her hands willow loves to read, she is at a sixth grade reading level at the age of 5. She also loves to research anything, and has many trivial facts stored away.
The next character is Charlotte O'keefe. She is a stay-at-home mother of two, but has a full time job caring for Willow and her disability. She is always seen loading and unloading walkers, wheelchairs, and Willow. Charlotte would do anything for Willow, go to the ends of the earth just to make her life a little better considering her situation. Before Willow was born Charlotte was a very successful pastry chef, but since having her second daughter, she has given that up.
The third Character is Sean O'keefe. Sean is a police officer, and sole provider for his family. He gets to spend little time with his daughters, and has started to loose connection. Even though he is not Charlottes older daughter Amilia's, father, he still lovers her just the same. He is trying to dow what ever he can to provide for his family, and is stretching to the limit just to keep them together.
The fourth Character is Amilia O'Keefe. She is Charlotte's oldest daughter, and Seans adopted daughter. Amilia loves to ice skate. She feels like she is left out, and is not important to her parents because they are always busy caring for Willow. Recently Amilia has died her hair blue, and started to dress more dark, she is screaming for attention form her parents. Another one of Amilia's issues is she has now has a bulimic eating disorder. She is lost child stuck in the mix of trying to get any shred of attention possible.
My last Main character is Piper Reece. She was Charlotte's doctor during her pregnancy with Willow, and is also her very best friend. Charlotte and Piper met at the ice skating rink where their daughters went to class together. They became fast friends, life long friend, or so they thought. When Charlotte and Sean start to go under from the weight of the medical expenses, they sue Piper for "Wrongful Birth." Piper is devistated and dose not know where to turn. She quits her practice,and starts to take her pain in to attacking the house. She becomes a do-it-yourselfer, and starts to remodel everything that she can think of.
one of my charicters, Amilia, can relate zuhel_smantha's character Vanessa. Amilia has started to cut because she feels like she is not seen in life. She is not seen by her parents because they are too busy dealing with willow's desiese. She also dose not feel like she is seen at school because she has lost all of her friends because of her mothers lawsuit.
Rock Bannon is a rough and rugged man. He is use to pain and recovers well. Anyone who doubts him is a fool, though he should not be confronted with opposing opinions or he may snap. His intelligence is not to be taken lightly though some have tried. He follows no one and is often alone on his own will. Violence is in his nature as he has killed a man for no reason except that they drew a gun on him, and he relentlessly killed many indian's.
Coopers book relates to mine because they are constantly struggleing to complete a task. In my book it is trying to reach California, and on the way there is a lot of blood and pain. I agree with cooper's hypothosis, you have to struggle and hurt alot before you can get better. In my book their life will be better once they reach California.
My book is very interesting... This partitcular book doesnt have a main character, i would say it has a 6 to 10 very important characters. All of these characters have their own individual qualities obviously, however they do have two things in common. All of these character live in the same apartment building and are all getting to know each other as because they all moved into the same apartment building on the same day. they are all also trying to figure out who the murderer was of the famous sam westing. all the tenants claim to be the rightful heir to his fortune and have all been given clues to try and figure out who murdered him.
the characters in my book are having a tough time working together and i don't think they are going to be able to until the end of the book... No one is trusting anyone and they are all suspicious of all the others...
The main characters in the book Rolling Thunder is Rocket Rob Wilder, Michelle with Ensoft(Robs sponser) and Robs Will Hugges the race team leader. Rob is a very tallented race car driver, he is very smooth and clean racer. He is going for rookie of the year.
Like MJ's book my book relates to theirs because of their is a lot of main characters. Bob J.R. always wanted to race but Bob S.R. wants to protect him from the danger on the track.
my main character mitch relates to gangsta's character. i say this because mitch is an assasin by trade and fears no one. he can take pain and has a lone wolf attitude and a demeanor that demands respect.
My main character rusty james is a kid who is just trying to find his place in the world. he wants to be just like his older brother, the motorcycle boy, who is fearless and does what he wants when he wants and is very smart.
My book relates to shanes because we both have more than one main character in our books. granted i have way more than three main characters... it is something we both have in common.
The main character in my book is a little mexican boy. He is scrawny/short and cares deeply about the living conditions of his family. He is also very trustworthy.
My book can relate to Adam's because its not that Robin is learning how to make friends its that he has to make friends. If he is put in a situation where it is potentially dangerous and does not have friends that have his back, he is going to get killed! and nobody wants to be killed!
my book doesnt really have a main character because the main character is the entire town. in the start of the book they are comfortable in their boring lifes. and by the they love for interesting abstract things to happen.
Chris has many different layers. He refuses to cry even when he does find out that his mother killed herself and that his dad died of some odd form of cancer. Other than this he seams a fairly happy person always acompanied by his loyal friend and dog Orison. He loves to surf "only at night" and hang out with his two best friends. Not mentioning sticking his nose were it doesnt belong and medling with things hell never understand.
In the end of my book the two main charaters change dramaticlly well marcus-black is a totally different man because he moved away from all this drama and is now living a normal life. Eddie on the other hand is going totally down hill and is messing up his life hes still living in his dump hole of a house.
Coopers book also relates to mine because Mitch is trying to give information to the FBI wihile working for the mob familys law firm and staying alive.
The main Character in my book is a quite mysterious character. He is the type of person where nobody knows exactly whats on his mind but people know there is something on his mind. He is a very quiet man he keeps things bottled up inside him, but he does not let others push him around. He is also very intelligent, and is an experienced leader. He is proud of what he does and what he has become and he will fight for it.
My character is similar to Gangsta's character because they are both rough rugged men who are under estimated by others. They are both intelligent and they both have experience with a gun.
Well after ready Casey's blog I'm very upset and need to run to the book store NOW!! Edward cant tell Bella he doesn't love her!!! he has to love her! On a serious not, Bella kinda relates to J.Rs book he says is no body knows whats going on in his characters mind but everyone knows there something. With Edward he is a mind reader and know what everyone is think, except for Bella he can never figure out whats going on in her mind but is very interested in finding out.
My character Sryke can ralate to GANGSTAs character Rock Bannon becose they both have been threw alot of pain and have come out with there head held high. GANGSTA said that anyone who doubts his character is a fool and that is the same with Stryke, anyone one who doubts Strykes abilety as a leader is a fool.

ReplyDeleteChris si a young man, even though he cant stand the sun hes not completly white either. He has many friends but they all seem to be disapearing or dieing. He has a loyal dog that he cares for a great deal. Over all Chris seems like a kind and caring person who loves the night life.

ReplyDeleteIn my book there are alot of different Charaters. I will tell you about the main one. Also I will tell you the names of the other charaters.
Kate: She frist decides that she wants to play the guitar. That is when she realizes that she would need some new shoes because her whole life she had worn gym shoes, running shoes, soccer cleats, hiking botts, and red Chuck Taylor high-tops. so I would say that she is kind of more on the relaxed side of things. she kind of talks about how there are girls guitars and boys. Kate would also hang out with her friends in cheerleading for example the cheerleaders had decided that they would all wear red on the frist day of school and also they would also all be in the same lunch so it would work perfectly. she also had written her own song about dallas- an imaginary person. Also you will learn that she goes to a creative writting class and meet a boy there...

In my book there are two main charaters the first charater is "BLACK" he is a bad boy he does some very bad stuff such as he took a gun from his grandpa and jumps people with it and steals there money and whatever they have. My other charater is "WHITE" this is blacks sidekick these two are pretty much like brothers white does the same as black but instead of the gun he is the look out. throughout my book as the two were jumping some old lady they both get caught by the cops.....
ReplyDeletethere are a few main characters and a couple small ones. the first main character is Mitch Rapp who is the CIA's most respected and honored operative. Mitch Rapp is feared by almost every terrosist and is well trained in every field. working with the CIA since he was twenty he has made a very long career. the next character is his boss and director of CIA Irene Kennedy who is very smart,quite and shows little emotion but is always calculating. the third main character is President Robert Hayes who always seeks the help of Kennedy and Rapp. Hayes is a great leader and is very respected for making the right decisions and leading his country.

my character is kind of like parabellum because their are only a few many character and a few small ones. They are a little different because mine are not in like the CIA's and what not. Also i could say my book is like Shane's book because my main characters are also very good friends. And they have over come alot of rough time together.
ReplyDeleteIn my book, i have 5 main characters. The most important of those characters is Willow O'Keefe, she is a young girl suffering with O.I. Willows life is anything but normal for a young girl. She constantly has her mother hanging over her, trying to protect her from any dangers. She is left out of many activitys because they are "too high risk" for her to participate. With having the spare time on her hands willow loves to read, she is at a sixth grade reading level at the age of 5. She also loves to research anything, and has many trivial facts stored away.
ReplyDeleteThe next character is Charlotte O'keefe. She is a stay-at-home mother of two, but has a full time job caring for Willow and her disability. She is always seen loading and unloading walkers, wheelchairs, and Willow. Charlotte would do anything for Willow, go to the ends of the earth just to make her life a little better considering her situation. Before Willow was born Charlotte was a very successful pastry chef, but since having her second daughter, she has given that up.
The third Character is Sean O'keefe. Sean is a police officer, and sole provider for his family. He gets to spend little time with his daughters, and has started to loose connection. Even though he is not Charlottes older daughter Amilia's, father, he still lovers her just the same. He is trying to dow what ever he can to provide for his family, and is stretching to the limit just to keep them together.
The fourth Character is Amilia O'Keefe. She is Charlotte's oldest daughter, and Seans adopted daughter. Amilia loves to ice skate. She feels like she is left out, and is not important to her parents because they are always busy caring for Willow. Recently Amilia has died her hair blue, and started to dress more dark, she is screaming for attention form her parents. Another one of Amilia's issues is she has now has a bulimic eating disorder. She is lost child stuck in the mix of trying to get any shred of attention possible.
My last Main character is Piper Reece. She was Charlotte's doctor during her pregnancy with Willow, and is also her very best friend. Charlotte and Piper met at the ice skating rink where their daughters went to class together. They became fast friends, life long friend, or so they thought. When Charlotte and Sean start to go under from the weight of the medical expenses, they sue Piper for "Wrongful Birth." Piper is devistated and dose not know where to turn. She quits her practice,and starts to take her pain in to attacking the house. She becomes a do-it-yourselfer, and starts to remodel everything that she can think of.
one of my charicters, Amilia, can relate zuhel_smantha's character Vanessa. Amilia has started to cut because she feels like she is not seen in life. She is not seen by her parents because they are too busy dealing with willow's desiese. She also dose not feel like she is seen at school because she has lost all of her friends because of her mothers lawsuit.
ReplyDeleteRock Bannon is a rough and rugged man. He is use to pain and recovers well. Anyone who doubts him is a fool, though he should not be confronted with opposing opinions or he may snap. His intelligence is not to be taken lightly though some have tried. He follows no one and is often alone on his own will. Violence is in his nature as he has killed a man for no reason except that they drew a gun on him, and he relentlessly killed many indian's.
ReplyDeleteCoopers book relates to mine because they are constantly struggleing to complete a task. In my book it is trying to reach California, and on the way there is a lot of blood and pain. I agree with cooper's hypothosis, you have to struggle and hurt alot before you can get better. In my book their life will be better once they reach California.

ReplyDeleteMy book is very interesting... This partitcular book doesnt have a main character, i would say it has a 6 to 10 very important characters. All of these characters have their own individual qualities obviously, however they do have two things in common. All of these character live in the same apartment building and are all getting to know each other as because they all moved into the same apartment building on the same day. they are all also trying to figure out who the murderer was of the famous sam westing. all the tenants claim to be the rightful heir to his fortune and have all been given clues to try and figure out who murdered him.

ReplyDeleteThe main characters in the book Rolling Thunder is Rocket Rob Wilder, Michelle with Ensoft(Robs sponser) and Robs Will Hugges the race team leader. Rob is a very tallented race car driver, he is very smooth and clean racer. He is going for rookie of the year.

ReplyDeletemy main character mitch relates to gangsta's character. i say this because mitch is an assasin by trade and fears no one. he can take pain and has a lone wolf attitude and a demeanor that demands respect.
ReplyDeleteMy main character rusty james is a kid who is just trying to find his place in the world. he wants to be just like his older brother, the motorcycle boy, who is fearless and does what he wants when he wants and is very smart.

ReplyDeleteMy book can relate to Adam's because its not that Robin is learning how to make friends its that he has to make friends. If he is put in a situation where it is potentially dangerous and does not have friends that have his back, he is going to get killed! and nobody wants to be killed!

ReplyDeleteChris has many different layers. He refuses to cry even when he does find out that his mother killed herself and that his dad died of some odd form of cancer. Other than this he seams a fairly happy person always acompanied by his loyal friend and dog Orison. He loves to surf "only at night" and hang out with his two best friends. Not mentioning sticking his nose were it doesnt belong and medling with things hell never understand.
ReplyDeleteIn the end of my book the two main charaters change dramaticlly well marcus-black is a totally different man because he moved away from all this drama and is now living a normal life. Eddie on the other hand is going totally down hill and is messing up his life hes still living in his dump hole of a house.

ReplyDeleteThe main Character in my book is a quite mysterious character. He is the type of person where nobody knows exactly whats on his mind but people know there is something on his mind. He is a very quiet man he keeps things bottled up inside him, but he does not let others push him around. He is also very intelligent, and is an experienced leader. He is proud of what he does and what he has become and he will fight for it.

ReplyDeleteWell after ready Casey's blog I'm very upset and need to run to the book store NOW!! Edward cant tell Bella he doesn't love her!!! he has to love her! On a serious not, Bella kinda relates to J.Rs book he says is no body knows whats going on in his characters mind but everyone knows there something. With Edward he is a mind reader and know what everyone is think, except for Bella he can never figure out whats going on in her mind but is very interested in finding out.

GANGSTA said that anyone who doubts his character is a fool and that is the same with Stryke, anyone one who doubts Strykes abilety as a leader is a fool.
